Bonding over Fro Yo

Hi lovelies!

Happy Saturday! If only that qualified as a real holiday, life would be good... Anyway, today my sister and I gave into our sweet tooth craving and decided to splurge over a cup of fro yo. Although today was pretty chilly to get fro yo, it did not matter, we got it anyways.
For a quick recap of the day, first we went to the fro yo store and used those little cups to take a million samples. Some tasted really disgusting while others became my new favourites, one of them happened to be cotton candy (so good!). So this is my sister's first debut on my blog! Whether or not you knew I had a sister, well I do, and she's a year younger than me. Without further do, scroll down to see the photos.

A Day at the Shops

Hi lovelies!

I am two weeks into my summer vacation and it has been quite enjoyable so far. I took a well needed  two months off so I could concentrate on school to pull up my average as much as I could for my final mark. As you could have probably guessed by the title of this post, I went shopping with the bestie! However, this "mall" wasn't like any ordinary mall, it was a strip mall. By this I mean the kinds where you would have to walk out of each individual store to go to the next one.
Honestly, the trip was quite spontaneous. We did the most random things, ate a whole meal, and the best part? We didn't spend a single penny! How you might be thinking? Well just keep on reading to find out. First we walked around a bit, and went into some shops like Aritzia, Anthropologie (which I absolutely love!) and then we came to Murale. Murale is a beauty store, similar to Sephora, and since I saw a posting online for a professional NARS makeup lesson by a man name Andre (who apparently has many credentials in the makeup industry) I decided that we should sign up. This class was two hours and very knowledgeable, I learned a lot, got a makeover from a makeup artist and this is where the freebies kick in. There were complimentary sandwiches and water for the guests! Not little finger foods, but the whole sandwich! So we ended up taking three and splitting it so one and a half each. After the lesson, they gave us this coupon which allowed us to have one free hot beverage at a local espresso shop, so we seized the opportunity and got free drinks!
If you made it to the end of this long story, I applaud you because this is probably the longest post I've ever written about my day. So keep on scrolling to see the pictures!

Printed Bows

Hi lovelies,

I hope everyone's having a great day, and sorry for the infrequent postings; I have been busy and uninspired lately. Today's post is based off a nail design posted by The Beauty Department (www.thebeautydepartment.com). This website has amazing beauty tips and ideas, especially their nail designs! They're so creative, unique, cute and somewhat easy to do. Since I owned all the colours needed, I thought that a re-creation on the original design would be fun to try out. Without further ado, keep on scrolling to see my take on this design.

     Here are the photos:
^ products used
^ start off with a clean slate
^ Paint your nails three coats of Essie's "Turquoise & Caicos"
^ Use OPI's "Alpine Snow" and create two strokes in a "V" shape
^ Lastly, use a black striper to create a heart by outlining the border and paint two loops
^ voila we're done!

Fashion Show Field Trip

Hi lovelies!

I had an incredible opportunity to attend a fashion show as a school field trip! Normally school trips consist of visiting historical museums and other uneventful places. But when the opportunity came about, I jumped at the chance; by being a fashion blogger I was excited to go.
The fashion show I went to was hosted by a college in my city where third year student designers had to individually come up with their own collection consisting of around three to four pieces. Some of the outfits were stunning, whereas some were very abstract (to say the least). However, I feel like I would have enjoyed the show more if it was shorter since there were so many students and collections to showcase. Overall, it was a great experience.

Mirror Outfit & A Big Thank You

Hi lovelies!

March has gone by so fast, anyone else agree? First things first, I want to thank my readers SO much for reading my posts, commenting on them and following me. When I first started my blog, I never in a million years imagined that so many people would read my blog. Within the first week of creating my blog, I had around a hundred views and I was so ecstatic about that amount, since I was intending on almost no audience. This is the third month from when I started and I have more than five thousand three hundred views! That is honestly incredible and I wouldn't have been able to reach that amount without you readers. So thank you for all the support and sticking with me through these past three months! Scroll below to see an outfit I wore today.

Springtime Trends

Hi lovelies!

The weather's getting warmer so you know what that means... it's almost skirt season! I love spring, everything about it; from the warm weather to being able to finally ditch my winter jacket. I thought a lot about what new post I should put up, and after lots of thinking I thought that sharing my spring trends with you readers would be a great idea! With spring just around the corner, here are my spring "ins" and "outs" for the season, so keep on reading!

Fashion
In- The eyelet pattern is incredibly in for spring. When I think spring fashion, I imagine soft, feminine pieces; especially dresses. In the photo below, you can see that this dress is a great example for this trend. By incorporating the classic spring white dress along with the pattern, this dress is a must-have.
In- Bold, solid coloured shorts are a really exciting new trend for me. I have always stayed on the safe side of the colour spectrum; this includes dark and light wash jean shorts, not exciting I know. This spring (and summer) is a great excuse to try out the colour blocking trend. Colourful shorts create a sense of uniqueness, boldness and look amazing as well.
Out- It is time to leave the cheetah print, it was only a fad and not fit for spring. Cheetah print is too androgynous for spring (in my opinion). This spring is all about the girly fashion; as seen on the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Runway, femininity is the way to dress!
Out- Along with my persuasion to wear more feminine clothing, the masculine trend has to leave. This means combat boots, studs, dark colours, and black leather jackets. Fashion continuously recycles itself between feminine and masculine trends; last year, masculinity was more looked upon but this year femininity has taken the reigns.

     Here are the photos:
 ^ white eyelet dress

Beauty
In- Pastel nail polish is one of my favourites all year round, but with spring coming up I'm super excited to wear it. My main three pastel nail polish colours are mint green, pink and a lilac. The Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Runway stresses pastel, almost every single outfit has a pastel colour so incorporating the colour into nail polish only makes sense!
In- Spring is all about going "au naturel". I always like to wear bare, natural makeup year round, but this season stresses on the relaxed, bare, light makeup look. I would do this by lightly dusting powder on the face or even use tinted moisturizer, instead of liquid foundation. Add a touch of mascara, no eyeshadow, a light flush of blush to the cheeks and a neutral lip product and voila you're done!
Out- If spring is about going all natural on makeup, the "out" would be wearing a smokey eye. Spring is definitely not the season to test out the smokey eye, just keep this look for the night time or (even better) not at all.

 Suzy

P.S. Since it's March break now (for me) or maybe some might call it "spring break", what are you guys doing for the break?

Off to the Slopes

Hi lovelies!

Today I went skiing! (As a school trip, of course). So for all those adventurous people, this may be the post for you! I can honestly say that I'm not an amazing skiier, and I can also admit that I fell about ten times this trip, but I'm still pretty decent, haha.
As for the day itself, I woke up at a staggering 5:30 a.m, then headed out the door at 6:15 a.m for school in order to be there by 6:30 a.m. We used a school bus to the ski resort which I think took about one and a half hours or maybe two. During those long hours, my bestie and I occupied time by reading magazines & books, talking and of course, eating snacks. When we finally got there, we attended a lesson which gave us our colour level and now we were free to ski by ourselves! Today was so much fun and I'm definitely looking forward to the next time I get to go skiing.

     Here are the photos:

My question for you readers out there, have you ever been skiing?

Equestrian Elegance

Hi lovelies!

I love the look of equestrian clothing because it looks so sophisticated, conservative and put together, which is how I personally classify my style. Although I have never ridden a horse, I'm inspired by the fashion. A classic horse back riding outfit consists of a blazer, a button-up shirt, tight riding pants and riding boots. At an attempt to recreate the look, I took a more wearable and casual take on the outfit.

     Here are the photos:

P.S. I'm sorry that the photos aren't clear, I had to take these photos by myself with the 10 second timer option so I couldn't focus it. :(

Simplicity in Stripes

 Hi lovelies!

Has this week been as hectic to you as it has to me? I had a bunch of tests, assignments and exams to do but good thing that's over! This post is based on what I think every girl should have in her closet, a striped shirt! Striped shirts are kind of risky since they do bring the illusion of width to the body. One of my friends actually asked me "how do you wear a striped shirt?" and I guess that kind of inspired this post.
The way I wore my striped shirt in this post is through layering and one tiny pop of colour. This outfit involves monochromatic colours with one bold colour, turquoise. Without any further ado, scroll down to see the pictures.

     Here are the photos:

Partying in Pyjamas

Hi lovelies!

In my fashion class at school, one of our projects was to make a pair of pyjamas. So when I was buying the materials needed, I wanted my fabric theme to be "girly and floral" and that's exactly what I got. Some people thing floral is granny-like but I really like the trend!
I never knew making a simple pair of PJ pants took so much work. I had about five weeks (I think) to work on this project, and I finished early. When I was done sewing and putting together my PJs, I wanted to show my readers! So with the help of my sister, we had a "pyjama photo shoot". I know we're not the most professional people in the world but it was fun!

     Here are the photos:

Now for the random stuff. Since I want to get more conversation going on in the comments, what are your favourite shows at the moment? I recently found this amazing show called "Jane by Design" and can totally envision myself in Jane's shoes, or should I say heels, haha. We're similar in many ways, and I would kill to have her internship.

     Here's the photo:

I want to hear from you readers! What are your favourite shows? Have you ever sewn something for yourself to wear before? And what posts would you like to see from me in the future? Thanks for reading!

Hugs and kisses,
Suzy

Sweet Sixteen

Hi lovelies!

Today (well, yesterday) was my sweet sixteen; although I didn't have a glamorous or expensive birthday party, I still enjoyed my birthday. It was a really simple and sweet day that was spent with my family and relatives.
My birthday was split up into two parts, my actual birthday (January 27) and today (January 28).  On my real birthday (in order of events), I woke up to my sister bringing me a gift bag of presents from my family, then having to practice piano for an hour because I had to go to piano class later on that day. After my piano class, my mom, sister and I went to the mall to retrieve my free Starbucks drink courtesy of my birthday (for Starbucks rewards members). A couple hours later, my sister and I went to our church's fellowship, and lastly, even though it was 10 p.m we went out to a restaurant where many of my relatives were there as well.

     Here are the photos:
 ^ venti caramel macchiato
^ they spelled my name right!

For part two of my birthday, I went to downtown to shop around with my brother and sister. We walked around for a while until we found a nice place to grab a drink. This place called "Darkhorse Espresso Bar" was our destination. My brother ordered a 'London Fog' while my sister ordered a lemonade, which later she didn't want then gave to me, haha. After we came out of 'Darkhorse' we made our way to Eaton Center where we grabbed a bite and a little dessert. For the big meal, I ordered a classic cheeseburger combo at "Big Smoke Burger" and for the treat, I got a strawberry gelato at "Froshberg Gelato".

     Here are the pictures:

As for what I got for my birthday and what I wore, there's a picture for all that! I'm really thankful for all the gifts I got, especially the new addition to my NAKED palette family... NAKED 2! And the new camera I got (see the difference in the quality?). Enough chit chat, just look at the photos, haha.
